Staind Issue New Live Tracks, Music Video for ‘Fade’

Staind are celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of the best‑selling post‑grunge albums of the 2000s, Break the Cycle. Originally released in 2001, the record produced massive hits like “It’s Been Awhile” and “Fade,” both of which have now been issued as live preview tracks from the band’s upcoming release, Break the Cycle: 25th Anniversary Live. It’s not a box set, but it does feature the full setlist performed during Staind’s 2026 anniversary dates. The complete live album arrives August 17 on streaming and CD.

Break the Cycle was the band’s breakthrough, riding all the way to No. 1 and dominating radio and MTV throughout 2001. It ultimately became the 41st most successful album of the entire decade across all genres. “It’s Been Awhile” remains an all‑time post‑grunge staple, but the record also delivered charting singles like “Fade,” “Outside,” “For You,” and “Epiphany.” Its success helped cement post‑grunge’s hold on rock at the time, pulling attention away from nu‑metal. The heightened emotion, stronger vocals, heavier performances, and more refined songwriting marked a major leap forward from Staind’s earlier work.

Hitting No. 1 in five countries, Break the Cycle offered heart‑forward post‑grunge that felt more authentic than many of its contemporaries, and Staind were rewarded for their openness and honesty. Producer Josh Abraham gave the album a huge, arena‑ready punch—half the tracklist sounded built for stadiums.

Staind will continue their anniversary tour in September, with Hoobastank and Hinder serving as support.
