Aftershock Festival 2026 A Big Success

The Aftershock Festival took place this past weekend at Discovery Park in Sacremento, California. It began Thursday and wrapped up Sunday. This year’s version had one of the best alternative rock lineups of the 2026 festivals. Estimates of the attendance were at 160,000 for the four days.
Thursday saw emo gods My Chemical Romance headline. They remain enormously popular as a live attraction. Bands who played grunge or post-grunge included Theory of a Deadman, Red, Finger Eleven, and The Pretty Reckless.
Friday, famous older rap acts Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, and Three 6 Mafia made their marks. The headliner was Limp Bizkit, who have seen a resurgence in popularity this decade. Drowning Pool was the most famous act to play grungy material.
On Saturday, Pierce the Veil headlined. They are a mix of straight alt. rock, emo, and post-grunge. Grunge legends the Melvins played earlier in the day.
Sunday wrapped up the festival with Tool and there was plenty of grunge flavor with Stone Temple Pilots, Toadies, Oleander, and the industrial rock band Filter.
Video still of Pierce the Veil live at Aftershock 2026.
