Punk Legend Jello Biafra Hospitalized After Suffering Stroke

On March 7^th, Dead Kennedys’ vocalist Jello Biafra, considered one of the most important punk figures in rock history, suffered a stroke brought on by high blood pressure.  Biafra is hospitalized but it stable condition.  Jello was able to have an update for his fans on social media about his hemorrhagic stroke.

“"I hopped out of my bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me and I fell to the floor. I couldn't even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn't working either. I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn't. I realized I had 'fallen and I can't get up!' It was this point I thought, 'Oh sh-t, I'm having a stroke!’”

Biafra’s personality can still be felt even through this post – he’s been successful at music and activism, an inspiration for many in the counterculture and punk scene from the 1980s through to today. 

It’s unclear how the future will unfold given the varying reactions people have when they suffer a stroke.  Jello (Eric Reed Boucher) is 67 but has plenty of fight in him which helps in anatomical battles.

Last year, word on the street was that there could be a Dead Kennedys reunion with Jello, but it was not to be.  Dead Kennedys have had a huge influence in punk and even grunge through their counterculture stances and music.
