Movements Seek to Issue 4th Album, ‘Happier Now’

Movements are one of the best alternative rock bands around, and while they’re known as emo, they’re not afraid to get grungy either so we at The Rock Lair keep an eye on them.  Movements are issuing their fourth album, ‘Happier Now’ on September 4th and the new single, “Everything Is Fine” is already streaming.  The band also issued two videos for “Dissolve Me/Back in My Ways” and “Separate”.

The Californian band toe the line between emo and post-grunge – their vocals lean towards emo but their sound ranges from emo to punk to grunge to straight rock.  ‘Ruckus!’ their 2023 album was chockful of grungy guitar on songs like “Killing Time” and “Lead Pipe”.

“Everything Is Fine” has more of a cascading guitar tone and leans into pop with its yearning vocal that gets lightly intense during the refrains.  But there’s maturity and nuance to the fresh sound of this single that’s striking.  There’s some improvement in the songwriting itself – the lyric tells of the singer, Patrick Miranda, who has suffered from depression in real life, of his reluctance to let someone in past his mental walls. 

Look for more greatness when the album comes out in September.
