Earlier this year, The Foo Fighters fired their drummer Josh Freese. Freese was considered a fine veteran choice when first announced after the passing of long time Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, but just 3 years later, after one album and plenty of live shows, the band contacted Freese to let him know his skills were no longer desired. “The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they've decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer. I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.” Freese also mentioned that he had yet to find out the exact reason why he was let go.
Josh Freese’s drummer days harken back to the 1980s when he began playing professionally and eventually hooked up with The Vandals. He was part of several bands following that stint including Devo, Guns N’ Roses, and A Perfect Circle. His session work and live work resume is particularly impressive, playing with many popular acts from pop singer Michael Bublé to industrial rock kings Nine Inch Nails.
