Guitar legend Tom Morello is teaming up with hard rockers Rise Against for a spur-of-the-moment type of ‘Defend Minnesota!’ show in Minnesota to bring unity to the state after ICE agents murdered two protesters in recent weeks. There’s been a lot of reaction about ICE in the music world, and hopefully some find peace in the music tomorrow at noon, January 30th at First Avenue. Al Di Meola and Ike Reilly will also take part. A special guest has yet to be named – apparently a surprise guest will be there. The proceeds of the show will be donated to families of ICE’s victims Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Morello was formerly in Rage Against the Machine who usually was considered the most political band of the 1990s and he has continued supporting causes ever since. Rise Against also has seen their share of politics and not been afraid to let their voice be heard. Both have strived for unity in the past and they want to help in this case too.
