Shinedown Scores U.K. Top Ten But Misses U.S. Top Ten with New Album ‘Ei8ht’

Shinedown already have three #1’s tied to their latest album ‘Ei8ht’ but the album itself has only reached #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.  In the U.K. it peaked at #8

In the U.S. they “sold” the equivalent of 37,500 albums – the number really a mix of sales and streams. It’s been over 20 years since they last missed the top 10.  ‘Us and Them’ from 2005 peaked at #23

Albums’ peak positions are usually the first and second week of the chart so there’s little chance anything will get the album up the charts.  Typically, albums issued in any genre instantly drop after the first week since that first week all the people anticipating the album stream or buy it immediately.

That doesn’t mean Shinedown are done for.  Not even close.  They continue to dominate the singles charts and remain one of the most popular rock acts around.  While it’s nice to know the statistics, sometimes statistics don’t reveal the full story.
