Paul McCartney Releases the First Single, ‘Days We Left Behind’ Off of His New Album ‘Boys of Dungeon Lane’

Paul McCartney released the first single today “Days We Left Behind” from his new album ‘Boys of Dungeon Lane’.  The album title is based off a place in Liverpool that Paul visited as a child.  The single sounds like its title: it’s a slower soft tune played on acoustic guitar and sung in a higher register for Paul.  He’s backed by his own harmony vocal on the refrains along with piano, bass, and what sounds like cello.  There are no drums, just the beautiful melody unadorned by percussion.


“Days We Left Behind” lovingly reaches back to the past with open arms but with the knowledge that you can reach for the past but never quite grab it.  Cherish the good times when they’re good, feel the moment as it’s happening.  Wise words from a man that has had many great moments to reflect on.
