New Grunge Weekend: Three New Releases Featuring Grunge Just Released

Grunge continues to live on even though there haven’t been a lot of new releases thus far this year, on May 29^th, three acts came up with new albums that feature grunge and post-grunge material. 

Shinedown – Ei8ht

Shinedown’s new album ‘Ei8ht’ was one we’ve been keeping an eye on here at The Rock Lair, with a bunch of singles issued from it since January of 2025.   We already know hits like “Dance Kid Dance”, “Searchlight” and “Safe and Sound” – all #1 Mainstream Rock songs but now we have a total of 18 tracks clocking in at over an hour to tend to this weekend.  Only their second album of the decade, ‘Ei8ht’ hopefully quenches fans’ thirsts. A video for "Young Again" was issued the same day.

Dogstar – All in Now

Dogstar, with famous actor Keanu Reeves on bass, arrived earlier this year with the single “All in Now” announcing that they have a new album coming out with the same title.  “Joy” and “This Sphere” were two more preview singles for the band’s fourth album, second of this decade as they continue the band after reuniting in the early 2020s after two decades of inactivity. Robert Mailhouse and Bret Domrose are also back – the original trio hope to see further success – “All in Now” hit #24 on the Mainstream Rock chart in early 2026. Several lyric videos were issued the same day.

Violet Grohl – Be Sweet to Me

The debut of Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet Grohl comes in the form of ‘Be Sweet to Me’, a collection featuring rock that veers off into grunge occasionally.  “595” and “Cool Buzz” were issued as previews.  Last year, “THUM” hit #33 on the Alternative Songs chart.  The 20-year old has already been featured in concert with Nirvana and on Foo Fighters’ material.  Her new music video for "Bug in a Cake" was placed on YouTube the same day.
