Long time alternative rockers Alter Bridge just released their latest album, ‘Alter Bridge’ featuring the previously released single, “Silent Divide”.  Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti were interviewed about the new album with Metal Hammer.

“We did the streamlined artwork for the cover to say, ‘listen, this is about the music.’ We’re not a bad that focuses much on our image,” Tremonti said of the AB logo as the only item on the album’s cover and the album name.

Myles added, “We always keep certain hallmarks intact.  We chose not to throw too many curveballs to the band.  There’s no keyboard solos, there’s no jazz saxophone solos.  So we kept it Alter Bridge.”

The album, released today January 9th, was produced by Michael Baskette at 5150 Studios in California and Studio Barbarosa in Florida.  Alter Bridge recorded for two months last spring to complete the record.

Kennedy commented on the individual band members’ musical influences: “It’s definitely coming from different sides of the fence but it’s turned into this strange rock n’ roll stew we’ve made.  I think we’ve pulled the right ingredients from each of those genres and sub-genres. I’ve found when you put them together, it works.”

They also commented on how they feel now when they release a new album.

Kennedy explained:

“Once it’s turned in and you throw it out there, we’ve learned to let the chips fall as they may.  Everyone’s gonna have their opinions on things.  We feel like we did the best we could and took a snapshot of where we were in as honest a way as possible.”
