Providing the sparks more than fading, Everclear have been reliving the glory days of their first successful album Sparkle and Fade with a massive tour celebrating its success. Starting September 4th in Los Angeles, the Sparkle and Fade 30th Anniversary Tour has been a fruitful one with fans rejoicing over hearing some of their acclaimed hits like “Santa Monica”, “Heartspark Dollarsign” and “Heroin Girl” along with a few of their post-1995 hits.
The platinum Sparkle and Fade has been revered for decades now as one of post-grunge’s best albums. While many other post-grunge acts were getting savage press reviews, Everclear were able to steer clear of those unfair reactionary write-ups, having been considered a band that knew how to write songs well and perform them in exciting ways. The new anniversary edition gives us the album newly remastered, outtakes, and demos available via streaming or on vinyl.
While fans can hear the new streaming tracks at home, Everclear remain on the road, sending themselves to Australia for a 16-date tour which closely followed their 43-show tour of the U.S.
Perhaps we can look forward to the same treatment of their follow-up album, So Much For the Afterglow after the fine victory parade Everclear have given Sparkle and Fade.
