In the wake of Soundgarden’s Hall of Fame induction—where original bassist Hiro Yamamoto stepped back into the spotlight for the first time in decades—he now embraces his past by rejoining forces with his next band, Seattle’s own Truly. The reunion is complete with original vocalist/guitarist Robert Roth and powerhouse drummer Mark Pickerel of Screaming Trees fame.

Back in 1995, True Stories From Kid Coma stood out as one of post-grunge’s most daring and imaginative releases. While it carried a touch of commercial appeal, the album’s heart was far more earnest than much of what dominated radio. Truly weren’t chasing sales—they were chasing art. Their fearless blend of psychedelia, pop, and experimental textures set them apart from peers who leaned heavily on post-grunge formulas.

In fact, the band famously refused to pay DJs to spin “Blue Flame Ford,” a track that had begun to gain traction. That decision, they believed, contributed to the album’s modest sales despite glowing word-of-mouth and critical acclaim. By the early 2000s, Truly had disbanded, leaving behind a cult classic rather than chart-topping hits.

Now, with Dave Lory and Sandy Rizzo of WEG co-managing, Truly are stepping back into the spotlight. Eleven tour dates are already locked in for March, beginning on the West Coast and wrapping triumphantly on the East. For fans, it’s not just a reunion—it’s a celebration of a band that always valued creativity over compromise, returning to remind the world why their music mattered then, and why it still resonates today.
