Collective Soul usually keep to meat and potatoes rock while leaning into post-grunge and folk-rock occasionally but this year, they’re hitting the 1980s new wave scene with their new album named after the new wave/rock band The Cars song, “Touch and Go”.  But it’s only to be released on vinyl for Record Store Day.  Perhaps at a later juncture, it will get a full release.  On April Fool’s Day they announced the new album with a video that shows them holding the mostly pink album sleeve with lettering reminiscent of The Clash’s 1979 album, ‘London Calling’s font.

For now, the album of all originals has been promoted by Collective Soul as their tribute to new wave as evidenced in their press release.

“One week until Record Store Day! Our new album "Touch And Go" drops April 18th, and it's only available at independent record stores. 10 new songs inspired from New Wave sound, 180-gram colored vinyl, and an exclusive 12"x24" poster.”
