The Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona last month featured several famous rock and rap acts including Twenty One Pilots, Blink-182, Sublime, Public Enemy, and more performing their best hits. One such act, Cage the Elephant, performed on February 21st at the Home Plate stage.  Frontman Matt Shultz stated that the band are writing new material and later in the set, guitarist Brad Shultz commented that he was tempted to try out a couple of new songs right then and there, but the band stuck to the setlist instead.

‘Neon Pill’, issued in 2024, was Cage the Elephant’s last album.  It only reached #57 on the U.S. Billboard Albums chart and its singles didn’t fare to well either with the best being the title track, “Neon Pill” hitting #31 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Singles chart.   Part of the issue was the length of time it took to record ‘Neon Pill’.  Many fans were off listening to other acts while they waited five years for the band’s new music.  But there’s always excitement with a new Cage the Elephant album.
