Breaking Benjamin Breaking Through with New Single, "Something Wicked"

Breaking Benjamin have been very quiet this decade after their ‘Aurora’ album was issued in 2020.  Since then, just one single, “Awaken” reminded folks of the band’s post-grunge power, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.  It was the band’s 8^th #1 on the chart, and proved that their staying power is still staying. 

Today, we get the second BB song in the last 6 years, “Something Wicked” which brings back the sound fans know and love.  The production is updated, the technology of the recording can be felt more and then the band build the intensity of vocals and guitars on top of a relentless throttling rhythm.  Benjamin Burnley provides a mighty effort with some parts scream-sung and a massively wicked monstrous yell towards the end that functions as the climax of “Something Wicked”. 

Burnley gave a brief commentary on the track with the release:

 “'Something Wicked' is a quick look into our influences both musically and thematically. We challenged ourselves especially hard on this record and on this song. We pushed every boundary we've previously had as far as it will go, then pushed a little more. 'Something Wicked' was the result.”

The band are set to tour with Return to Dust and Chevelle in the summer.  This time around, they will use their new drummer Brian Medeiros.   While we wait for a new Breaking Benjamin album, this tasty treat should keep us occupied.
