Earlier in the year, Jerry Cantrell released a new song— his first release since the solo album I Want Blood. This time, Cantrell trades blood for moonlight in a haunting collaboration with film composer Ludwig Göransson titled “In the Moonlight.” The track appears in the new film Sinners, which blends blues, rock, and R&B across its soundtrack. Set in 1930s Mississippi, the film stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers caught in a web of fate and identity.
“In the Moonlight” finds Cantrell stepping outside his usual hard rock terrain, embracing a quieter, moodier palette. The song builds tension through hushed vocals, candlelit harmonies, and a brooding orchestral backdrop that swells at key moments. While Cantrell — and Alice in Chains — have explored softer sounds before, this track carries a cinematic sweep that feels especially evocative and effective. [Photo: Marcela Fae]
