While not the most universally beloved entry in their catalog, Alice in Chains remains a powerful statement—melding grunge, hard rock, and metal into a brooding, unforgettable listen. True to form, the band is once again going big for their fans. For $300, diehards can pre-order a deluxe box set packed with artwork and the original album pressed across two LPs (a necessity, given the CD’s 65 minute runtime).
Often nicknamed the “Tripod” album—thanks to the three-legged dog on the cover and drummer Sean Kinney’s childhood memories as a paperboy—the band ultimately opted for a self-titled release, letting the image speak for itself.
For those seeking something less extravagant, there are also double-vinyl editions available in a variety of colors and designs. But the deluxe box is where the real collector’s magic happens: it includes three 7-inch vinyl singles, ten custom art prints riffing on the original album’s circus-themed visuals, twelve tarot cards (one for each track), a cassette, a hardcover comic book, two posters, a double-sided zoetrope slip mat, and a 3D ballerina zoetrope coin record topper.
The downside? There are no outtakes, no videos, and no live material included. And while it won’t make it in time for the holidays, fans can expect it to arrive sometime in February 2026.
