Crossfade made news late last year when they announced that they would be performing live for the first time since 2012.  They followed through with their promise performing eight shows during the course of 2025, bringing fans what they knew and loved about the group.  In May, they performed at Sonic Temple 2025, with singer Ed Sloan explaining, “We don't have a record. We don't have a record label. We may have those in the future, I don't know if we want those right now,” when interviewed by Metal Injection.

Crossfade have recorded just three albums in their 25 years having gone on hiatus for half of that time.  In some ways, it’s like the band reunited, but they never officially broke up.  Along with Sloan on vocals and rhythm guitar, Mitch James returns to bass and backing vocals, lead guitarist, keyboardist, backing vocalist Les Hall is back, and on drums is Paul Williams who replaced Mark Castillo.  Castillo left in 2012.  Sloan had only released a bit of material as a solo artist during the hiatus but got the itch to get back with Crossfade.

Not included in the new lineup is original drummer Brian Geiger, who recently had been performing in The Police tribute band Synchronicity.  DJ Tony Byroads joined the United Methodist church and the band The Undivided.  James Branham joined We All Bleed in 2010.

Crossfade’s first two albums charted in the top 40 with their third only reaching #100 on the charts.  Their final two singles didn’t chart and perhaps the popularity drop was enough for them to hold off on releasing anything new.  It’s been 13 years since we last heard from Crossfade but perhaps, they have some inspiration left for something new.
